MOVIE MONDAY SPECIAL

Hello and Happy [a little] belated Easter!

I am really busy at this time of the year and obviously you have to know how to relax as well. So I have been and will be doing it the best way I can – stay at home, get comfy and put on some movies. That is all I ever need.

A small story:
Monday morning. The agency/my internship. I get there and say “Good morning!” or “Hi!” to whoever I see/meet. My colleague asks: “What did you do over the weekend?” My answer: “I recreated/relaxed.” Colleague: “Ok, so what did you do?” Me: “Nothing! I relaxed!”

Since I have watched a few movies, then on this post I will have a small review/discussion about ALL of them! That is what makes it a “Movie Monday Special”! πŸ™‚

I was very excited for this movie to come out. I knew Agatha’s Christie novels are great, so before the movie came out I wanted to read it first. I had no knowledge of if we had this novel in our “home library”, all I had was a memory of a light book spine with big words “Agatha Cristi” on it. And so I rushed to the “library” to look for that book in a hope that it was “The Orient Express”… AND IT WAS! I was so so happy. I read the book, so if you ever come across the book – read it. It was very good, very well written and very interesting. Unless you don’t like murder mystery genre.. πŸ˜€
About the movie.
β€’ I watched some interviews before and in almost every one of them there were talks about camera techniques and shot techniques, how they are incredible. It made me want to see the movie more and more. And to be honest – I thought I will see less of these incredible shots, but instead I got to see even more great and wonderfully done shots! I am a freak of these things and I LOOOVE good camera shots, and trust me – THIS MOVIE HAS THE BEST CAMERA WORK! From the long single shot “through” the train to wonderful shots from above. My heart skipped a beat every time!
The plot…
I really like how they started the movie with a story line that was not in the book, but it is really needed in a film – you have to get to know the main character before it sets the main plot. For me, the french accent bothered me a little and was a bit harder to understand what was said, but just put the subtitles on and it’s all ok. I also like how they worked on the “train stuck in snow” issue, because in the book it is not really explained, but in the movie it is needed, because a train will never get stuck in snow without a reason or without any causal relation. So well done.

Overall, I am really happy about the movie and not disappointed at all. The cast is wonderful, wanted to see a little bit more of Johnny Depp, but I guess that’s what “Pirates of the Caribbean” is for πŸ˜€ . I would like to write a little more about this film, but I have to get to the next one.

I love a good Cinderella story. And this one is a story that I don’t think has ever been done. In all the Cinderella story type films the “Cinderella” at the end somehow beats the “evil stepmother” and somehow the “evil stepmother” ends up working for Ella or something. But not in this film. This time they very legally go after her horrible parents, this time they have the child protecting services and court. This time it is more realistic than ever. You see how to actually deal with this issue in real life and how to fight it, and it is a very important issue to talk about and to show. I am really happy that the production team made the film like this, they chose to give the old story a very realistic turn. It is very important to have this is our modern society where these stories could actually be happening. So if you are like me and like a good Cinderella story type of film, this new one is a recommendable with a very legal ending.

jumanjiLast year. One day I saw the original “Jumanji” on our TV “library” and decided to watch it. I was excited to watch it, this is a great classic and I just love it so much. And then I found out that “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” was happening. I was very excited! After the movie came out I saw some bad reviews about it, but what I do – I never let the bad reviews in my head. Not everyone is the same. And this year IΒ  finally saw this film. WONDERFUL! I really like how they made it fit the modern technology, how the planted these Easter eggs that were small references of the original “Jumanji”. The cast is wonderful. But what I loved the most was Jack Black. He was INCREDIBLE! FOR 100%! I honestly, have NO FREAKING IDEA HOW HE DELIVERED IT! I really have no words, his performance is the absolute BRILLIANCE! I never saw Jack Black in there, I only saw that teenage girl from the bottom to the top! I don’t know, maybe it’s just my blown mind speaking, but I think this is the best role in the history of Jack’s acting career.
This is really a great film for family, it may have some flaws in the story, but overall it is quite good. Better that I expected.

It is a nice animated film that tells you that being different is not bad at all, in fact it is wonderful. The picture ir beautiful, really great job on the animation work. There is some great humor as well… a lot. I was excited for it because of Gina Rodriguez and Daveed Diggs, I had completely forgotten about Flula Borg, so the second I heard Flula’s voice my eyes immediately glowed. I am really happy about Flula and what he has accomplished.Β

Guardians of the Galaxy
The trailer looked funnier than the movie, not that it is not funny. It sure is very funny, but trailer had too much of the humor in it. I’ve been a fan of Chris Pratt since I saw “Parks and Recreation” and he is so good in this role. The movie has great CGI and it really looks like a real place, makes me want to experience the making of this movie even more. My all time favourite moment of this film was the ending. Those who know what I’m talking about know, those who don’t – sorry, I won’t spoil this to you.
Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2
I have only one thing to say about this: I LOOOOOVE Baby Groot! And where can I get one? Honestly, after I watched the movie I went to google and e-bay and searched for Baby Groot things. It is the best thing ever. I don’t really care about the movies or Chris Pratt anymore. It’s only Baby Groot. What movie? I was talking about a movie?

What could actually go wrong and happen with the girls in the 3rd movie?

Mostly the plots in films are set in High School or Universities and the movie ends with the characters graduating and getting the job, living the dream, etc. In this film you see how not always after graduation it goes well and as wanted. And it is so freaking real. And I love how Hollywood embraces these truths and shows the audience that it’s ok, it’s normal and it doesn’t happen to just you alone. I think they ended these series very well, including an actual Boom!.Β
Great music and a nice way to spend your evening!

mv5bmjyymjq2odiznf5bml5banbnxkftztgwmjy4otm1mji-_v1_sy1000_cr0013221000_al_I watched this one more than a month ago, so I can not say a lot, but what I can say is that this movie is so sweet and wonderful, I had no idea that Christopher Robin was inspired by a real person, that it was a real story. Which makes this movie even more special and at some point very emotional. It is such a beautiful story and I truly from the bottom of my heart can say that this is worth watching by yourself or with your family.

A really nice film made after a book. Never read it, but if I even come across it, I definitely will. I will admit, that almost most of the film I spent thinking whom the sister looks like, she looks like someone from my old school but I couldn’t figure it out until a few days ago. That made me not get into the story very deep, but I still watched carefully and it was really wonderful. I like how they have little storylines of the main story participants, a very interesting take on visual representation, at first it seemed a little weird, but then I kind of liked it more and more. P.s. One of the main reasons why I watched this was Daveed Diggs. And he did amazing. πŸ™‚

And with Wonder my special Movie Monday ends. 8 movies. And I still have some left in my ” Movies to watch” list. My professor had this thing, than he’d watch one movie a day for a whole year. Not sure how long he did it, but there was one point where he was so busy with work that it had to be cancelled for some days. I wonder If that could work for me someday…. probably. πŸ˜€

Have you seen any of these movies? If so, what did you think? πŸ™‚

Best wishes,The Butterfly Girl. Logo

P.s. The thumbnail photo is from a stock and a funny thing – I own the same blanket. It is from IKEA, but I don’t use it as a blanket, I use it as a scarf. So seeing it in a photo stock was kind of weird. πŸ˜€
